This project began when we received an inquiry from a Chilean customer through Alibaba. The customer was initially looking for a 10-ton single girder overhead crane for their facility. After responding to the inquiry, our sales team asked for a more convenient contact method and obtained the customer’s WhatsApp information so that communication could be faster and more efficient.
During our first conversations, we learned that the customer mainly spoke Spanish, and their English was limited. To ensure smooth communication, our sales representative used translation tools to communicate clearly with the customer. Although there was a language barrier, both sides were patient and cooperative, which allowed the discussions to progress smoothly.
In the early stage, we asked the customer to confirm the technical parameters of the overhead crane, including lifting capacity, span, lifting height, and installation conditions. The customer needed time to verify these details internally, so the parameter confirmation process took some time. During this waiting period, our sales team kept in regular contact with the customer and continued sharing information about our company and projects.
Coincidentally, at that time our team had just completed a customer visit trip in Chile. We shared photos with the customer showing our team visiting local clients, inspecting crane installations, and discussing projects with partners in the region. These photos demonstrated that we already had experience working with customers in Latin America, which increased the customer’s confidence in our company.
Once the customer finalized the parameters, we immediately prepared a detailed quotation for the 10-ton single girder overhead crane and sent it to the customer. When sending the quotation, we also mentioned that our company planned to participate in an exhibition in Chile next year, and the exhibition city would be the same city where the customer’s company is located. We expressed our hope to visit their company during the exhibition trip, which further strengthened the relationship.
After reviewing the quotation, the customer showed strong interest in our products. In addition to the overhead crane, the customer also requested quotations for a jib crane and a steel portable gantry crane to support other lifting tasks in their facility. Our sales team quickly prepared the additional quotations and also issued a Proforma Invoice (PI) for the complete equipment package.
The customer then submitted the documents to their company’s internal approval process. After about one month of communication and coordination, the customer confirmed the order and arranged the advance payment. In the end, the customer decided to purchase a complete lifting solution consisting of the 10-ton single girder overhead crane, a jib crane, and a simple steel gantry crane.
The successful cooperation not only helped the customer improve their material handling efficiency but also strengthened our presence in the Chilean market. Both sides look forward to meeting in person during our next exhibition in Chile and exploring more opportunities for future cooperation.
Hoisting Mechanism Features
Drum
The drum is a key component of the hoisting mechanism and is manufactured from high-quality seamless steel pipes using advanced CNC machining technology. After precise processing, the drum surface is designed with accurately machined rope grooves, which help guide the wire rope during lifting operations. Combined with a rope guide, this design ensures that the wire rope is evenly wound on the drum, effectively preventing problems such as rope loosening, overlapping, or tangling. This not only improves the stability of the lifting process but also extends the service life of the wire rope.
Wire Rope
The single girder bridge crane is equipped with a high-strength wire rope, typically with a nominal tensile strength of 2160 kN/mm². This type of wire rope provides excellent load-bearing performance and high safety reliability. Thanks to its durable structure and strong resistance to fatigue and wear, the wire rope ensures safe lifting operations and offers a long service life even under demanding working conditions.
Rope Guide
The rope guide plays an important role in maintaining the correct alignment of the wire rope during operation. The standard rope guide is made of high-performance engineering plastic, which offers excellent wear resistance and self-lubricating properties. This design significantly reduces friction and wear on the wire rope, helping protect one of the crane’s most critical load-bearing components. For heavy-duty working environments, an optional ductile cast iron rope guide can also be used to provide enhanced durability and strength.
Hoisting Motor
The hoisting mechanism is powered by a dual-winding squirrel-cage variable-pole motor, which allows the single girder bridge crane to achieve a fast and slow lifting speed ratio of approximately 1:6. The motor housing is made from extruded aluminum alloy, providing lightweight construction and excellent heat dissipation performance. A cooling fan installed at the motor end further improves thermal efficiency. To prevent overheating, thermistors or thermal switches are embedded in the motor windings. The motor typically features Class F insulation and an IP54 protection rating, ensuring reliable performance in industrial environments.
Brake System
The hoisting motor is equipped with a dual-disc electromagnetic brake installed at the motor end. When the power supply is cut off, the brake automatically engages to prevent the load from slipping. The brake clearance is automatically adjusted by the brake spring after the initial setup, eliminating the need for manual adjustment. When the brake pads wear below the preset thickness, a monitoring switch will trigger an alarm to remind operators to replace them. With braking torque at least 1.8 times the motor’s rated torque, the brake system is highly reliable and capable of handling up to one million braking cycles during its service life.
Reducer
The reducer housing is made from lightweight aluminum alloy, offering both corrosion resistance and reduced structural weight. Its fully sealed design contains semi-fluid grease lubrication, ensuring all gears remain properly lubricated throughout operation. The gears are surface-hardened and precision-ground, allowing the reducer to run smoothly and efficiently. Under normal operating conditions, the lubrication system is designed to last for the entire service life of the reducer without requiring replacement.
