Semi gantry cranes are often used when space is of a premium. This crane is typically supported by legs on one side which travels on wheels or rails on the floor. The other side rides on a traveling mechanism which often rails on the wall of the existing structure.

The semi gantry crane frees up space on what side as there is no need to use valuable space on the floor. The traveling mechanism on the wall of the existing structure minimizes floor usage. Floor usage for wheels or rails would require additional safety clearance.

These cranes are not only an economically advantageous solution, especially in situations where the installation of overhead cranes would be complex or impractical for structural reasons, but are also an ideal complement to indoor logistics solutions, being suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. Our cranes offer high performance, even in limited spaces, thanks to their design focused on simplicity, modularity and maximum usability.

The heavy duty gantry crane can be used indoors as well as outdoors. Due to its smaller footprint, the semi-gantry crane is a good alternative to a regular gantry crane for indoor use. The crane can be built in either a single girder or double girder configuration depending on load requirements.

A semi gantry crane is a complex piece of machinery composed of numerous parts. Here are some of the primary components of a gantry crane:

◊Girder or Bridge: The horizontal beam along which the trolley travels. In a semi gantry crane this is usually a single, solid beam, but in larger, more complex systems, it could be a double girder.

◊Hoist: The hoisting equipment does the actual lifting of the load. It is usually a wire rope or chain hoist and travels along the trolley on the girder.

◊Trolley: The trolly moves back and forth along the girder and carries the hoist. The movement of the trolley allows the load to be moved horizontally.

◊Supporting Structure (Legs): The legs are the vertical or nearly vertical beams that hold up the girder and it can be fixed or movable depending on the design of the heavy duty gantry crane.

◊End Trucks: Located on either side of the semi gantry crane, the end trucks house the wheels that enable crane movement. They’re typically found on each supporting leg of the crane.

◊Controls: The operating system that controls the movement of the crane. This could be a wired pendant, remote control, or a cabin control.

◊Drives: These are the motors that move the trolley along the girder and the entire crane along its runway.

◊Power Supply System: It supplies power to the motors. This could be electrical, battery-powered, or even manual in the case of some smaller cranes.

◊Cables and Wires: These carry power and control signals to different parts of the crane.

◊Braking System: To safely stop the crane’s movement when required.

The design and components of a crane can vary based on the specific type of the half gantry crane. Some gantry cranes are adjustable, portable, or fixed, and the design can vary based on the load capacity and the environment the crane is being used.

Safety Features

♠Overload Protection: When the lifted load exceeds the rated capacity, the crane will automatically trigger an alarm and stop operation to prevent equipment damage and ensure safety.

♠Emergency Stop System: In case of an unexpected situation, the operator can activate the emergency stop button to immediately halt all crane motions.

♠Flexible Control Methods: The half gantry crane can be operated via a cabin control, pendant control, or wireless remote control, allowing the operator to maintain a safe distance and reduce the risk of injury.

♠Thermal and Overcurrent Protection: The main lifting motor is equipped with thermal overload and overcurrent protection to avoid motor burnout and ensure long-term stable operation.

♠Emergency Power-Off Switch: A centralized emergency power-off switch can cut off all electrical power instantly in the event of a hazardous situation, enhancing overall system safety.

♠High-Security Limit Switches: Limit switches are installed for lifting and travelling motions to prevent over-lifting or over-travelling, which could damage the crane or cause accidents.

♠Hoist Options: The crane can be equipped with a CD/MD type wire rope hoist for standard applications or a European-style wire rope hoist for higher performance, quieter operation, and improved lifting precision.
