A customer from Uruguay contacted SEVENCRANE through our website with an inquiry about a 16-ton double girder overhead crane for a newly constructed workshop. The customer is the technical supervisor of a metallurgical company, responsible for selecting and evaluating lifting equipment for their production facility. Since the crane would be installed in a brand-new plant, the customer paid great attention to the technical details and overall reliability of the equipment.

According to the requirements provided by the customer, the crane needed a lifting capacity of 16 tons, a span of 16.75 meters, and a lifting height of 9 meters. It would be installed inside the new workshop to handle heavy metal materials and equipment during production. Because the crane would play a key role in daily operations, the customer carefully reviewed every aspect of the technical proposal.

During the communication process, our engineering team worked closely with the customer to confirm the design parameters, workshop layout, power supply requirements, and installation conditions. Detailed technical drawings and specifications were provided so the customer could ensure that the crane system would perfectly match the structure of the new factory building. As a technical professional, the customer asked many detailed questions about the crane structure, hoisting system, and safety features, and our team provided clear and timely responses.

One of the customer’s main concerns was the availability of spare parts. To address this, we assured the customer that SEVENCRANE would provide long-term technical support and spare parts supply. In addition, we offered a free set of essential spare parts together with the crane, which helped increase the customer’s confidence in the project.

After confirming all technical details and the final quotation, the customer decided to place the order. The final purchase included a complete double girder overhead crane system, three wire rope hoists, and spare parts. The smooth communication and professional support throughout the project helped build strong trust between both parties and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Components

Main Beam

The main beam is the primary load-bearing component of the double girder overhead crane and plays a crucial role in ensuring structural stability and lifting performance. It is manufactured from high-strength steel plates that are precisely welded to form a robust box-type structure capable of handling heavy loads during operation. Buffers are installed at both ends of the beam to reduce impact when the crane reaches the end of the runway, protecting both the crane and the building structure. The main beam is securely connected to the end beams using high-strength bolts, ensuring reliable structural integrity.

End Beam

The end beams are installed on both sides of the main beam and are responsible for supporting the crane’s traveling mechanism along the runway rails. They are typically constructed using anti-twist box-type profiles, which provide high rigidity and stability during movement. Each end beam is equipped with traveling units, including wheels and drive mechanisms, allowing the crane to move smoothly and accurately along the track. Depending on the required lifting capacity and workshop conditions, the structure and specifications of the end beams can be customized to meet different operational requirements.

Electric Hoist

The electric hoist is the key lifting mechanism of the double girder overhead crane and is responsible for raising and lowering loads safely and efficiently. It generally offers a lifting capacity ranging from 1 ton to 50 tons, depending on the crane configuration. The hoist is equipped with high-quality components such as a traveling trolley, reducer, drum, and lifting motor. It can be configured with single-speed or double-speed operation to meet different working needs. In addition, the system includes safety devices such as an overload limiter switch, ensuring that lifting operations remain within the safe capacity range.

Motor

The motor system of a double girder overhead crane is designed with a flexible and compact layout to optimize space usage within the crane structure. Advanced motor technology helps reduce the overall weight of the equipment while maintaining strong performance and operational efficiency. This optimized design not only improves energy efficiency and durability but also helps reduce manufacturing costs and material consumption, making the crane more economical and reliable for long-term industrial use.

Hooks

The hook assembly is the component that directly connects with the load during lifting operations. Depending on the crane configuration, hook capacities can range from 1 ton up to 450 tons. Different hook types are available, including single hooks, double hooks, drop-forged hooks, plain C-type hooks, and swiveling hooks mounted on thrust bearings. These hooks are typically equipped with safety devices such as belt buckles and wire rope sheaths, ensuring secure load handling and preventing accidental slippage during operation.

Wireless Remote Control

Many modern double girder overhead cranes can be equipped with a wireless remote control system, allowing operators to control the crane from a safe distance. The system supports various signal types, such as 0–10V voltage signals and 4–20mA current signal analog control, providing stable and precise operation.
